Land of Looms, Lores
& Ambition
Nestled in the northernmost district of Kerala, Kannur is a land rich in history, culture, and natural beauty. Known as the 'Land of Looms and Lores,' it boasts a vibrant tradition of handloom weaving, folklore, and a strong entrepreneurial spirit. With its pristine beaches, historic forts, and progressive educational landscape, Kannur is emerging as a hub of knowledge and innovation in Kerala.
Unlike the industrial hubs of central Kerala, Kannur has a strong presence in traditional industries like handlooms, plywood manufacturing, and cashew processing — alongside modern enterprises in IT, tourism, and small-scale industries. The North Malabar Chamber of Commerce actively supports startups and local enterprises.
The proximity to Kannur International Airport and seaport further enhances its potential as a growing business hub. With the right infrastructure and institutional backing, Kannur is poised to become a key player in Kerala's innovation-driven economy.
